Baja jackets are always best

Amazon.com : New Baja Hoodie Original Mexican Drug Rug 100 ...
Hey, everyone. It's me, Wendy and today I'm gonna be showing you how to make a hoodie

I know It's kind of dark to see I'll show you obviously in better light later, but my hoodie is zipperless

There's strings in the front coming out of the hood and like all good hoodies. There's the front...

pocket. Like that.

The hand warming pocket, you know?

out of all these things though the coolest thing about this hoodie

Is that it's made from one hundred percent recycled

materials so this used to be

plastic bottles. A company called thread reached out to me and sent me a bunch of samples of different fabric that they made using their

recycling plastic into fabric program. Reducing waste recycling materials these are all things I stand by and

Then when I felt the fleece I was like wow, it's so like it's so soft

I got you guys a

discount code for this

So if you want to use With Wendy when you check out you get ten percent off

And I'll put a link down below for you. I was seeing a lot more hoodies lately especially

That mom has like a whole bunch of hoodies coming out with all sorts of cool graphic design seen on Kanye on Rihanna

ETC taking inspiration from that I did make my hoodie with extra long sleeves their bundle of Napa look

stick around if you want to see how I plan on adding a design and

Stick around I'm like do you guys see how halloweeny my nails are halloweeny after this tutorial

I'm going to talk about adding a design and I'm going to talk about my halloween diys if you're new here

Don't forget hit the subscribe, and I'll see you after the tutorial

Recycled fabric

Here it is. I had our fulfillment teams throw a few extra inches on it. Just in case

¨Thanks again for agreeing to work with our fabric,

I know our team is so excited to see the final product, if you have any questions about Thread or the fabrics

Don't hesitate to shoot me a note.¨

Best Ever

I had requested two yards of fleece from thread and they sent me a little bit extra

But two yards will totally be enough for you to make a hoodie

then I grabbed the sweater that I really like and use that as a

template to trace out all the pieces. I need for this hoodie this first piece. That's shown here is the back of the hoodie

It's got a shallow neckline and the bottom curves downwards because I wanted it to be lower in the back

And then this piece is shown here is the front of the hoodie

It's got a deeper neckline and the bottom curves upward

Towards the middle because the hoodie is going to be higher up in the front all of this was copied from my sweater

So whatever sweater you own that you love the fit of, trace around it leaving you know a half inch for steam allowance

And you'll be pretty happy with the results, so I followed the sleeve shape up at the top where it joins the shoulder

but then I

lengthened It like

Crazy because I wanted it to be super long in the vetement style, if you want duplicate the vetement style

You should also pick a drop shoulder sweater to copy because their hoodies tend to be drop shoulder this one

Here is the front pocket

it's kind of like a

Trapezoid sitting on top of a

Rectangle and then the other piece to cut from the fleece is the hood I cut out four layers in

total of this shape

I made this using the shape of one of my existing hoodies

So that was the most helpful way to make sure it was the right size

It's got a rounded back

straight down in the front and then along the bottom a bit of an

S-Curve going on

First up with the front and the back right sides together and then sewed them with a straight stitch along the two shoulders

Next you'll want to open it up and attach it right sides together to the two sleeves, so I

Pin the sleeve all along the armhole on both sides here's how it looks on the outside

And then once you flip the sleep over there's how it looks on the wrong side

I did a straight stitch all along that curved edge and that helped to attach the two sleeves to the side of the hoodie

Next up we have the pocket

So the way this pocket works is along the two sloped lines that form the sides of the trapezoid

I folded those in 1-inch and pinned it down completely then along the top edge and two side short edges I

Folded it in about a half inch and pin that down

We're going to start with two rows of stitches along the sloped edges

And then add one skinny stitch along the two little sides and the top the bottom one you can leave completely

Open because once we attach the waistband on this hoodie. It's going to get hidden away anyways, here's the pocket when I was done

I tapered in the two bottom edges a little to look more like the vetement style

And then I'll flip it over and give you a close up of all the stitches

I've got two parallel stitches going down the sloped ends of the trapezoid and then that skinny stitch along the

top and two side edges

I lay this down onto the front bottom of the hoodie and pin it down

Along the two little short edges and the top edge just a little straight stitch on those two side edges and then the top edge

And this is now attached to your hoodie

I split up those four pieces of the hoodie material to make two pairs and put them right sides together

We're going to sew them along the curved edge once that was done

I opened them up and brought them right sides together, so that one could be the

Outside of the hood and one could be the inside of the hood I pinned these two together

Along the front edge of the hood all the way along the curve, and then sewed it together with a straight stitch

Here's how that straight stitch looked and now it's ready to be flipped so that it's right side on the outside

And you've got an outer shell and aligning for your head

I added another straight stitch along that entire edge about one inch away from it and that's going to create a spot for us to

Insert the string to tighten the hoodie

we're going to attach the head to the sweater to turn it into a hoodie and I did this by pinning the hoodie to the

sweater so that the outer layer of the sweater is touching the outer layer of the hoodie

I start at the back middle

And then move my way down the two sides of the neck hole at the front there was a little bit of an overlap

Based on my research on how the vetement hoodies looked they had to overlap too, so I followed that

It's just about a one inch of overlap and on the inside

We're going to sell all these layers together with a straight stitch

I started at the part where the hoodie

overlaps so first I sewed down one edge went all the way around and by the time I came back the other edge

I just sewed it right on top and that fixed everything into place to seal off the sleeves and the side of the Hoodie I

Bring the armpits right sides together and then slowed down the body and down the sleeve away from the armpit with some black ribbed knit

what I did is I cut out a strip that was five inches tall and then just wide enough to reach the width of the

whole sweater if I gave it some stretch

We're going to flip that so that it's right sides together and then sew down the two raw edges with a straight stitch to seal

It off into a tube for the waistband and the cuffs is the exact same thing so once it's sewed off into a tube

Open up those two raw edges

fold it in half and then

flip the rest of the fabric around so that now it's folded in half and ready to be attached as a cuff or

Waistband all of these pieces should be a little bit narrower than the part of the hoodie that you [them], too

But you don't want to make it too narrow so for example with the cuffs

I always like to test that they fit comfortably around my wrist

n even distance all the way around here

material and we're going to thread that into the hood to do this I cut out two little slits on the hood then take this

string fold it in half and stick it through a safety pin and

the firmness of the safety pin will make it easy for us to thread it through so I insert the safety pin in one of

the slits that I cut and then you just keep

Scrunching and pulling scrunching and pulling your way through the entire hood and eventually it'll hopefully

Come out the other side that is the last step to make this hoodie. So now you get to see how it turned out

[ Cool music in Wendy Style ]

Thought the rap on how I made this hoodie if you like, how it turned out

Let me know and you can also find more pictures of it on my instagram

It is at with wendy if you still haven't subscribed click here, and you won't miss out on any of my future tutorials

I'm going to move on to talking about adding designs and

My Halloween stuff

So this is your last chance, okay?

For adding designs to this hoodie when really easy way is to use fabric paint these two girls that I follow on YouTube who also  do sewing tutorials

Killed it so I'm going to link you to their video below its

Q2 han hopefully heard of them before if you want to see how it's done

Click click Click click click tell them I sent you and secondly it's Halloween time

and I partnered up with CBC life if you don't live in Canada CBC is like our biggest national broadcasting company
